Privacy policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
LandscapeLookup (“we”, “us”) runs landscapelookup.com, a free directory of landscape businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: you can search the directory without an account, we don’t sell personal information, and we don’t show ads.
Information we collect
When you browse
- Usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, which contact buttons on a listing are used (call, website, directions), how people arrive, and roughly where they are (city or region). It works with cookies and doesn’t tell us who you are.
- Technical data. Like any website, our hosting and security providers process your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Searches. What you type into search (a service, a city or a ZIP code) is used to show results and isn’t linked to you.
When you fill in a form
- Claiming a listing: your name, role, email, phone number (optional), a link that shows you run the business, and your message.
- Adding a business: the business details you enter (name, address, phone, website, services, Google Business Profile link) and your name, role and email.
- Contacting us: your name, email and message.
Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks signals from your browser to tell people from bots. Cloudflare processes that information under its own privacy policy.
Business owner accounts
If you manage a listing, we store your name, email and password (encrypted, never readable by us), and the details and photos you add to your listing. Photos are stored without their location data.
Business listings
Listings are built from publicly available business information (such as Google Maps business profiles, obtained through data providers) and from what owners add. This is information about businesses, but for sole proprietors it may include a name or phone number. Owners can correct their listing, and anyone can ask us to correct or remove one (see below).
Cookies
We use one cookie of our own: a login cookie for business owners who sign in to their dashboard. It’s needed for logging in and expires after seven days. Cloudflare may also set strictly necessary security cookies. On public pages, Google Analytics sets analytics cookies (such as _ga) to tell visits apart. You can block them in your browser settings or with Google’sopt-out browser add-on. We don’t use advertising cookies.
Some guides include YouTube videos. Until you press play, your browser only loads the video’s preview image from YouTube. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube may then store information on your device under Google’s privacy policy.
How we use information
- To run the directory: show listings, search results and rankings.
- To verify that the person claiming or adding a business runs it, and to give them access to their dashboard.
- To send emails you’d expect, such as claim updates, password resets and replies to your messages.
- To keep the site secure, prevent spam and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful.
When you visit a business’s website from LandscapeLookup, the link includes a tag (for example utm_source=landscapelookup.com) so the business knows the visit came from us. It contains no personal information.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We use a few service providers to run the site:
- Railway hosts the website and its database.
- Cloudflare delivers and secures the site, stores uploaded images and provides Turnstile.
- Google provides Google Analytics and YouTube (for videos in some guides), under its own privacy policy.
- Resend sends our emails.
They process information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and others.
How long we keep it
Claims, business submissions and messages are kept while they’re useful for running the directory and handling questions about a listing. Owner accounts are kept until the account is closed. Ask us to delete your information at any time and we will, unless we must keep it for legal reasons.
Your choices and rights
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
- Business owners can update their listing from their dashboard, or ask us to remove it.
- Ask us to remove a listing that shows your personal details.
Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights under local law. We honor these requests regardless of where you live, and we don’t sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it. Send requests through our contact form.
Children
LandscapeLookup is meant for adults and isn’t directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we’ll make it clear on the site.
